Lab Coat - Materials and Construction

There are various lab coat styles and materials available. Some materials include cotton, polypropylene and polyester. A lab coat made with polypropylene is made for purely practical reasons in a medical or laboratory setting, it can withstand heat and is fluid resistant which is important in a medical or laboratory setting.

Polyester and cotton are also materials that are most commonly used in lab coat material blends. Most blends consist of eighty percent polyester and twenty percent cotton. A polyester or cotton lab coat can be practical, stylish and comfortable and most are fluid resistant and useful in laboratory settings. They are also of course practical while with working with patients. Most coats are fitted which gives the wearer a professional and stylish look and is comfortable for all day use. You can also get a cotton or polyester coat embroidered with your name or the hospital or medical facility's logo.

Disposable lab coats are useful for working in an environment containing biohazards and are usually made with man made materials and polypropylene. There is a careful balance in the construction of a disposable lab coat simply because the more high quality materials are more expensive and thus do not bode well as a disposable item. Usually disposable and polypropylene materials are far more expensive than cotton and polyester and can range in price from seventy dollars to one hundred dollars. A cotton, polyester or polyester-cotton blend can range in price from twenty dollars to forty dollars. Both types of materials usually come in white but they are also available in a variety of colors and prints.
